Khawaja Asif Accuses Retired General Faiz Hameed of Being Central Figure in PTI Political Project

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has alleged that former ISI chief retired General Faiz Hameed was the central figure behind Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) political project and that further legal action will be taken against him under additional charges.

Speaking to the media in Sialkot, Khawaja Asif said that General (R) Faiz Hameed has already been sentenced following a 15-month-long inquiry and disciplinary process, while other matters will proceed according to the law.

He claimed that Faiz Hameed effectively ruled the country for four years in the guise of PTI’s founding chairman, adding that the May 9 violence was a joint venture between Faiz Hameed and the PTI founder.

According to the defence minister, the planning for the May 9 incidents was carried out from within, while manpower was provided by PTI. He said conspiratorial elements are still trying to revive the PTI founder, a strategy he claims was initiated by Faiz Hameed.

Khawaja Asif stated that the PTI political project began around 12 years ago and that even preparations for its first major rally in Lahore were made with the help of “invisible hands.”

He further alleged that Faiz Hameed was in charge of the entire project and continued to safeguard the interests of the PTI founder, enabling him to remain in power for four years.

The defence minister accused that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was removed from power and imprisoned as part of a well-orchestrated conspiracy, while the PTI founder was brought into power through alleged manipulation.

Khawaja Asif said that the alliance between Faiz Hameed and the PTI founder caused serious damage to the country and that the public has now realized the PTI leadership failed to deliver on its promises.

He added that the true nature of Faiz Hameed’s role began to surface after his transfer, noting that he was provided various facilities during his tenure as a corps commander and that his mindset was also behind the May 9 incidents.

According to Khawaja Asif, Imran Khan and Faiz Hameed were inseparable allies, and their nexus proved harmful to Pakistan’s national security and political stability.

The defence minister emphasized that accountability of anti-state elements will continue without discrimination, whether in uniform or civilian attire, and confirmed that General (R) Faiz Hameed has the right to appeal in a military court, before the army chief, and in the high court.
